I just love the name of that place. A little collection of trailers south of Lone Pine on CA 395. Anyone know the history of the place? It still shows up on AAA maps, even though you'd never guess there was a town there....

Re: Dunmovin'
Sat, August 7, 2004 - 9:05 AMI hiked up a mountain in Jawbone canyon and saw something that looked like a circular road with no inlets (too big to be a racetrack) or a particle accelerator. Since I know there isn't a particle accelerator there, and the racetrack is out of the question since it's too big, I havn't been able to figure out what the hell it is. The california desert is strange like that, people build the strangest stuff out there. -

Sat, August 7, 2004 - 7:52 AMThanks for the boss links, Quiet Girl. I wonder what/where those silver domes are. I'd guess they're probably reservoirs or something, but it could be some kind of alien landing site as well.... -

I think what you may have seen was the "old" viaduct, or perhaps something that was part of a film set?

Re: Dunmovin'
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 4:51 PMI lived at Dunmovin in 1978, a friend of mine, Alice Storey, lived in the old resteraunt right on 395 at the same time. I loved it out there. I would like to buy some land out there. Just wondering what it is like now. can anyone advise? Thanks.
